This idea didn't just come to us, we've been talking about going this summer (on one of our cooler SC days). For those of your that are friends with Geoff online, I posted a so I what I thought would be a great reference for Geoff in preparing me to camp. Camping in Style has lots of cool camping/hiking toys that I think should be necessities for braving the great outdoors. Yesterday, with nothing else to do, we decided we would give me a 'taste' of what camping would be like. While I've always be petrified of camping, for no real reason (other than the 50+ things that I can rattle off that can happen to me), I've always imagined awful things would happen to me:
We set up Geoff's tent downstairs in our house - hence the word camp'in' - camping in our house. To get us into the real camp'in' spirit, we turned off all of our electronics, hung out in the backyard with our boys, and grilled out.

After calling our parents to report our whereabouts (insisted), Geoff's dad suggested we camped in our backyard, which sounded brilliant... we moved the campsite to the back deck-I was actually going to experience my first camp out. When it was finally time for bed, we lasted outside for only about 15 minutes until we went inside. It seems Maximus is not a fan of being stuffed into a two person tent with four of us.

| When it comes to camping, Maximus is very experienced. He was once mistaken for a black bear while he and his dad were out camping one day. |
Despite several issues in getting settled in, we were finally ready for our camp'in' experience. So, yes I went camp'in,' no I didn't sleep well (until 5:30 when we went and got into bed), and yes I think I am ready to try camping again (on the deck, in the fall, with a four person tent, and an air mattress :)
Love finding fun ways to fill our summer days!
