These past few
months have gone too quickly and living has taken precedent over blogging. To catch you up, here are the major
life events you’ve missed:
Christmas: Spent one last Christmas with my grandmaw
Ashley… she passed away January 25th. I can’t be selfish, I’ve spent 30 years with her and
she lived to be 91. Additionally,
she didn’t suffer, Geoff and I talked to her for the last time a week prior to
her death, she told us she loved us and that she was sleepy. We saw her the say before she died and
she was sleeping… snug as a bug in a rug, she died early the next morning and
was reunited with my grandpaw and the others that have gone before her
including her childhood cat Jim Boots which she often talked about.
Our Friends: Long story short: Rhiannon's business Reflections by Rhiannon is growing so she had to move to a new location, YAY! Josh's father passed away because of a drunk driver, he is so strong and his courage throughout this experience is inspiring. Jason enrolled in Officer Candidate School for the NAVY and while I'm excited, I miss him already :( Finally, Emelie and Greg are doing great living in New York, they adopted a new daughter, Juneau, a husky! She's working for LinkedIn and loving it!
Geoff’s
Birthday: If you know us at all, we are not
outwardly political but when presented the opportunity to travel to DC to see
one of G’s childhood BFFs and attend the inauguration, we couldn’t resist. While G and I are familiar with DC,
Elijah and Marisa proved to be fabulous hosts and provided us with lots of new
experiences! The trip was filled
with memories that will last a lifetime!
New Year’s
Resolutions: Instead of
individual goals, we planned this year to be around the concept of FITNESS with
three categories 1) Spiritual Fitness-we need/want to find a new church in Fort
Mill. While we love going to
Second Baptist in Chester, we’d like to find a church family in our own town.
2) Emotional Fitness-we plan to continue to focus this year – going into our
second year of marriage- on continuing to make our relationship even stronger.
We love each other and being married but maintaining any relationship takes
work and commitment. 3) Physical Fitness-shocker… we’ve gained weight since we
started dating… even more since we
got engaged… and even more since we got married. Part A: I gave up soda again
(I didn’t drink any for two years but went crazy with Diet Pepsi since we got
married) Part B: Eat less bread and cook more. We love cooking but have fallen prey to the lazy way out of
grabbing food out instead of cooking at home. Part C: Utilize our gym membership… so far, so good!
Check back weekly to
see our progress on our New Year’s Resolutions!
