Bachelorette Festivities

As the countdown to our wedding continues, so do the pre-wedding festivities!

Before Geoff and I were even engaged, my bachelorette party was planned… Rhiannon, Emelie, and I set the date during Delta Pi’s recruitment last January. I knew I wanted my friends that were married and had babies to be able to come so we decided it would be a one-day, mega packed event. However, little did I know that wedding events in the North are much different than they are here… I had no idea what I was in store for with Rhiannon spearheading the planning of the day!

Fast-forward a year and the weekend was finally here! Friday arrived and so did the first event of the weekend… my dress fitting at Hayden Olivia with mom, Josh and Rhiannon! After an hour and a half of alterations and a sworn oath that I wouldn’t lose any more weight (hey a girl’s gotta look good for the big day), we were ready for the weekend! That night, Laura, Emelie, and Jason arrived. Josh cooked his infamous wings for us… they lived up to their reputation while sadly Geoff and Jason are still perfecting their homemade chips ;)

The morning had arrived… after cinnamon roll and a mimosa, or two… we were set to go. My first event, a lingerie shower at Crave Dessert Bar. We had the entire bar to ourselves, probably a good thing ;) The food that was served was delicious… Detailed Devil and Bugs Bunny cupcake, 40 spiced Hummus, spicy buffalo sliders, steak empanadas, cheese and crackers, margherita pizza and… COTTON CANDY, the one item I asked for! After eating too much cotton candy, we could have called it a day but the party continued. Next, we played a Mad Lib game where guests, including myself, had to determine Geoff’s answers to a variety of questions. Two of my favorites: 1.) I love the way Brigitte holds my _______________. 2.) When Brigitte says _____________, it really means _____________________. My favorite part of the game… reading everyone’s answers to the questions, hilarious! After the game, it was time to open gifts . I had to match the gift with the person who gave it to me. Luckily I was able to keep my presents – I didn’t do so well, Estelle and Savannah on the other hand, received a perfect score!

When the caravan left Crave, we headed to our hotel, Hyatt House, for an early check in. There, I attended my first Pure Romance party held in my honor… I think I’m still blushing but it was great fun! After some intriguing games and a variety of chocolate petit fours, also from Crave, it was time to get ready for dinner at Vida in EpiCentre. At this point Jason and Josh joined up with us again AND even better (no offense Jason and Josh), the groom came along too! I know what you’re thinking… you’re probably rolling your eyes and wondering why Geoffrey came. To answer it simply, I wanted Geoff there! One of my favorite things about marrying Geoff is that he’s my best friend and I wanted my best friend there. Vida’s food and atmosphere was amazing and the fellowship of friends even trumped that! Afterwards, we headed back to the hotel and then out to Suite. After much singing and dancing, we headed home.
Thanks to everyone that attended the day, it wouldn’t have been the same without you… Rhiannon, Emelie, Laura, Jason, Josh, Butler, Tricia, Missy, Etelle, Stacey, Erin, and last but not least Geoff!

I may be partial but the day could not have been any better! I woke up this morning feeling the same way I fell asleep Friday night… smiling and blessed. There’s comfort in the fact that I was surrounded by friends and love! It’s not often that the people you love are all there together to celebrate with you… I am truly blessed and this weekend completely affirmed that fact.
